What are my Verizon IMAP settings?

IMAP is imap.aol.com on port 993 (SSL); SMTP is smtp.verizon.net on port 465 (SSL), per AOL's own setup guide for verizon.net accounts. Auto-detected from your address.

Why is the server an AOL one?

Verizon handed its consumer mailboxes to AOL back in 2017. Your address stayed verizon.net, but the mail itself is stored and served by AOL, so AOL settings and an AOL app password apply.

Is this different from the AOL setup?

Barely. A verizon.net mailbox is an AOL mailbox with a different domain: same imap.aol.com server, same app password flow. If you also have an aol.com address, see our AOL page.

Your verizon.net address

Keep the full @verizon.net address as your username. Behind the scenes it is an AOL Mail account now, which is why the IMAP server is imap.aol.com.

An AOL app password (required)

AOL rejects normal passwords over IMAP. Sign in at login.aol.com/account/security with your verizon.net address, generate an app password, and paste it here.

Verizon.net Email works best with a revocable app password.
