What are my Telstra Mail IMAP settings?

IMAP is imap.telstra.com on port 993 (SSL); SMTP is smtp.telstra.com on port 465 (SSL), with port 587 STARTTLS as an alternative. We detect these automatically from your address.

I left Telstra, do I keep my email?

Ask to keep your address when closing the account; Telstra can suspend mailboxes of ex-customers otherwise. Note that a mailbox with no sign-in for 180 days can be permanently deleted, so an active connection helps.

Does the Telstra calendar work?

Yes. Telstra Mail exposes CalDAV at calendar.telstra.com (and CardDAV for contacts) with the same email credentials, so your assistant can read your agenda and add events.

Your Telstra address

bigpond.com, bigpond.net.au and telstra.com addresses all use the same imap.telstra.com and smtp.telstra.com servers.

Password, or an app-specific password

Telstra documents your normal email password for IMAP. If it gets rejected (common since Telstra's 2024 security changes), sign in to webmail at email.telstra.com, open Settings, then Accounts, and generate an app-specific password to use instead.

Telstra Mail works best with a revocable app password.
