What are my Daum Mail IMAP settings?

IMAP is imap.daum.net on port 993 (SSL); SMTP is smtp.daum.net on port 465 (SSL). hanmail.net addresses use the same servers. We detect these automatically from your address.

Why is my password rejected?

Since January 2, 2025 Daum requires an app password for IMAP, POP3 and SMTP, with 2-step verification switched on first. Generate the app password from your Kakao account security page; the account password itself no longer works in mail apps.

My address is hanmail.net, is that supported?

Yes. hanmail.net is the legacy Daum domain and is still fully served; it connects through the same imap.daum.net and smtp.daum.net servers.

Daum retired its CalDAV calendar sync back in 2015, and neither today's Daum 캘린더 nor Kakao's 톡캘린더 offers CalDAV, so this connection is email only.

Enable IMAP in Daum Mail settings

In Daum Mail open "환경설정", then the "IMAP/POP3" settings, and switch IMAP use on before connecting.

An app password (앱 비밀번호)

Turn on 2-step verification (2단계 인증) for your Kakao account, then create an app password under 카카오계정, 2단계 인증, 앱 비밀번호. Paste it here; your normal account password is refused over IMAP and SMTP.

Daum Mail works best with a revocable app password.
