What are my Private Email IMAP settings?

IMAP is mail.privateemail.com on port 993 (SSL); SMTP is mail.privateemail.com on port 465. Only encrypted connections are accepted. Filled in automatically.

Do I need an app password?

Often. Your master password works over IMAP only until you change it or enable two-factor authentication; after that, mail apps need an App password from the Security Center at privateemail.com. The calendar expects an App password in every case.

Does the calendar work?

Yes. Private Email runs CalDAV at dav.privateemail.com, which we attach on connect, so events are readable and creatable.

An App password (best), or your mailbox password

Private Email keeps a master password for webmail and App passwords for mail apps and calendars. They start out the same, so the master password works until you change it or turn on two-factor auth. After that, create an App password in privateemail.com → Settings → Security Center → App passwords and paste it here. Namecheap’s calendar guides always use an App password, so it is the safest choice.
