Before you connect

What you need

Your BT address

btinternet.com and btopenworld.com addresses work directly. Legacy talk21.com addresses were migrated and now sign in as yourname.t21@btinternet.com with the same password.

Your normal email password

BT has no app passwords and no way to generate one. Your usual BT Email password is exactly what IMAP expects.

An account with client access

BT Broadband customers and paid Premium email subscribers can use email apps. The free Basic accounts given to ex-customers are webmail only and cannot connect over IMAP.
